Description
The Geology Department's courses are designed primarily for students who have completed high school in the science department and who wish to have a broad foundation in geology. Upon completion of these courses by the targeted students and their completion of the graduation project, they will qualify as professional geologists who have obtained a bachelor’s degree in geology, enabling them to work in industry fields related to geological sciences or to pursue postgraduate studies (higher or specialized bachelor’s degree) in geology.

The Geology Department aspires to achieve distinguished outputs in line with the country’s needs and to gain global recognition in the fields of scientific and professional research by achieving academic quality as well as local recognition in the field of supplying the labor market with highly qualified scientific cadres.

Goals
Within the framework of the general objectives of the College of Science and the specific objectives of the Geology Department, the Geology Department aims to the following:
- Preparing qualified competencies to contribute to the service of development and comprehensive development witnessed by the various sectors of the Libyan state.
- Develop study plans in line with the requirements of preparing graduates with cognitive skills to serve the local community.
- Graduating scientific competencies to fill specialized positions in the government and private sectors.
- Promoting scientific research in the field of geology, carrying out scientific research to find appropriate solutions and participating in national and international conferences.
